Gaberial the Teeny and Semi-Lurking handed out peanut butter cookies
for all! Nigthwing was seen again and Yazzi returned as the Silver Dragon. Welcome back!
Editorial
Rai commented that there
have been people here who've flounced out than then returned, occasionally
on a regular basis. And while a genuine departure permanent departure is unfortunate,
there's always a risk of overdramatisa- tion. Some people feel the
need to apologise for absences of a week or two.
Such termporary hiatus are fairly common for any
online community. That's what the Statue is for, it draws no conclusions,
passes no comment, merely marks the presence of those no longer here.Culture
Pyros Rutilicus
gave us this quote: "The Fuolornis Fire Dragons were revered throughout the
lands ... for their savage beauty, their noble ways, and their habit of biting
people who didn't revere them."
Climatology
Tamf said, "Alfandrans float
- they enter, go into lurk-mode, go on hiatus, leave forever, return, and
then go through the whole thing once again. That makes for an unstable, dynamic
and generally weird group."
Quote
Daerden says "That's the best way to learn, break things :) Thankfully with software most stuff you break can be undone with the undo button (odd, that) :) I daresay it's not such a good method to use for, say, diamond polishing, or heart surgery." |
Poll Results
The poll results will be part of the next issue
as this one is being published too close to the last issue to give a good
representative sampling.
Lux added a brilliant but obviously flawed idea, "Let's put the world of today into the time capsule! Then maybe when the capsule's uncovered in the future, they will be able to find a way to fix everything that's wrong with it." AFD Webring Spotlight There are currently 39 sites listed as part of the Webring, other
than this one. So for each issue, the News will spotlight a different site
on the Ring.
Our first site belongs to Gelgisith, Wyvern of Zyrox. I was surprised to read the first page and learn that Gelgisith is female! She does an excellent job of describing herself and her history on the main page. Included in the frames are a dictionary and pronunciation guide, nice to have as the first page includes words in the Zyroxian language. Also included in this site are pages for the World of Zyrox, the Zyroxian language and links elsewhere. I enjoyed reading about Gelgisith and her history but the frames are cramped and the World of Zyrox only includes a few lines, not nearly as detailed as her personal history or the language. Progression Stalled
Sentinel asks, "You don't watch TV!?! Well, how
are you supposed to rot your brain if you don't watch TV? Do you know what
that can lead to? Next thing you know, you'll be questioning your government
and you know they hate intelligent questions. It means that they have to give
answers that they don't want to. The number one inhibitor of progress is
questions, you know."
Art Critique RequestDaedren posted, "I do find the layers thing really
useful, and I think I've got to grips with that. My main struggle now is
simply lack of artistic skills. I simply don't know how to shade, draw or
arrange things to make it look "good". Although having said that, i'm quite
pleased with how my first attempt is coming on. http://www.superstikman.com/junk/dragon.jpg

"Feedback is welcomed! Specifically: How can I make this picture look more lifelike? I tried taking away the black edges, which definately make it look cartoonish, but I can't then get the shading done well enough to make it look good. I had a look at that landscape renderer, and I'm very impressed! It does take a good quarter of an hour to render a high quality image, but it gets wonderful results! I'm rather taken with http://www.superstikman.com/junk/bg2.jpg [221k] Which just appeared of out lots of random clicking :)" Paid for by Gaframor I've been wondering if anyone would
want to do an art trade with me. You can
contact me at: feh_filahd@hotmail.comif you're
interested. You can check out: Gafs_Gallery
and Art to kind
of see my style. If you want me to do a picture of you, why not send me your DC too? |
