Wyrm remarks that the talons and wingy bits of small
dragons only get stuck in your teeth if they struggle. Seren is heard to
gloat:
"Ha HA! I will tak eover Alfandria, killing all native vegetation! It
is all a part of the Plan!" and "Ha HA! I will flood Alfandria, mercilessly killing off all the native species! It's all part of the Plan! Erm... deja vu? Perhaps I need to be put into a bag." Sir Charles comments that according to his Rules for Writers, a sentence is allowed to begin with 'And'. It's rather rare but it is possible

FAQ Mods?
Guillan asked: Do you think the Sing
Along With Me thread deserves a mention in the AFD FAQ? It does seem to be
something of an institution.
Rai replied, "Putting SAWM in the FAQ could be seen as giving it a pseudo-official status that I don't believe any single thread deserves. Newbies might even feel that, because it's mentioned, taking part is de rigeur -- I did that with the typist/dragon distinction when I first posted here. FWIW, I maintain the FAQ of my other main newsgroup, and have never considered mentioning one thread that's run a good deal longer and generated many more posts than SAWM." Scott added: "It's enough of a cultural thing in here there's been major debates and minor flames wars over it on a repeated basis. Big enough of a deal that numerous folks look for it almost before any other thread, some don't feel comfortable without seeing one or more posts to it every day, whether they read them or no, and some have had it on there ignore lists for months or even years. That is worth mentioning whether it's "agreable" to everybody or not - just make certain to mention both sides of the issue so folks know it's not a required thingy."
Verdulum says, "I don't see why not. Besides, it'd clear up some of the 'rules'
of the thread. Such as, is it really all that fair to post a song related
only by the band that plays it? It seems kind of like cheating, since almost
every band has more than one song, and they could just list one Creedence
Clearwater song after another after another after." Jeffrey said: "We have a thread at alt.games.creatures that's been going on forever, and it's earned an official mention in the FAQ. Notice

There's
a new dragon game coming out called Panzer Dragoon Orta. Years ago, a legacy
was born that ruled the skies. As time passed and memory grew dim, distant
times progressed from History into Legend. Now, the era of human prosperity
has come to a grinding halt, with all but a few pockets of civilization destroyed
by years of devastating battles. The population clings precariously to the
brink of extinction, scattered across the desolate land, living in the darkest
age in history. A new Empire rules with an iron grip, and a band of rebels
begins a revolt in an attempt to become masters of their destiny once again.
As the world is engulfed in the flames of war, an unlikely and unwilling
Hero must become mankind's only hope. Soon, the Dragon will rise again...
(for XBox and PC)
Dessert Anyone? War
continues on several fronts as Greylight spluts an unsuspecting dragon with
cream pie. The Burned Out One sees all that is going on and pulls out his
whip creamed filled super-soaker and just starts splatting dragons left and
right. Ninereeds growls and pulls out her choklit gun and choklit bombs.
Hoki watches the people getting hit by cream pies, and executes his plan.
He nods to his typist,
who grins back evilly and opens a targeting program
on his laptop and clicks on the big "Bomb" button. Some moments later, Wagner's
"Ride of the Valkyries" can be heard, first quietly, and then getting louder,
and louder, and something can be seen in the horizon. A lot of small, terrifying
things. Some moments later, residents can identify them as big flocks of Pernese firelizards, each carrying a lot of DCP-02 DigiCustardPies(tm) and RACP-03 RatherAnalog CustardPies(tm), or implements specializing their targeting and launching. Scary, isn't it? The place gets carpet-bombed to heck and back with those things. Not a square millimeter of the surface is spared. This essentially lead to 99.9% custardification rate of the surface, structures and vegetation, 83.2% custardification of beings on ground, and around 24% custardification of airborne beings hovering under the altitude of the firelizards. |
