Watch Out Seattle

(Paid for by Hespa) I'm well aware that the Portrait has been going through erratic times of late, but I'm pleased to announce that it now has a new location, reachable through both the old addresses, so there is no need to change your bookmarks, and a much better uploading system.

The Portrait has been updated for August. Questions, comments and constructive criticism are always welcome.  As usual, all afd-ers who have been here at least a month are invited to appear the portrait. All I need from you is a picture and your size, in feet for preference.  If the artist of your picture isn't you or another afd-er, please make sure you can give me their email address so I can get permission to use the pic.

Hex asked if residents would enjoy being famous? Arinalla answered: "I would love the attention for a while, but realistically, no.  If I could choose, I would prefer to be famous through some sort of anonymous medium, say like writing a book where I could use a pen name, but not directly in-your-face famous, I am quite shy when face to face so it would probably bother me a lot if people recognised me in the streets." ByrneWyng had a differing opinion, "But of course! 'Tis my second priority in Life! I'm going to a college-preperatory school that has a large emphasis on the Arts, so that I can go to a good Theatre college, so that I can build up a good acting rèsumè, and get into Broadway, then preform my best until I'm deemed Hollywood material. I've got backup plans, too. I've written some songs, started writing some novels, formulated several Philosophical theories, and written enough short stories to fill a couple books. But my passion is stand-up comedy. I love Comedy Central. It's the channel I tune to as soon as I turn on the television I want to leave behind more than a tombstone when I die. I want to be remembered as more than "our next door neighbor".  I want to see my name on the E! True Hollywood Story. I want to amount to something more than a suburbanite office worker with an ulcer."

Hex wrote: "Many of us are dragons. Yet all of us are imprisoned in human form. What has caused this condition? Why have we become hosted by human form? I've been thinking of my dragon and how this came to be. Always had a fascination with medieval Europe cicra 1350's. The Black Death was sweeping mankind to near extinction. Was I avoiding this almost certain death by choosing a healthy specimen? There are so many flaws with this theory. So rather than hurt my pate thinking about the ancient times I present this dilema to other dragons."

J'Karrah EbonDragon replied, "I'm in human for as the result of a treaty agreement made when my kind first arrived on this world and was looking for "temporary" lodgings.  The race of native Earth Dragons we encountered required that the young of our kind hatched on this world during our stay spend a fixed period of time living as humans and then relate our what we had learned of humans and their culture once we Returned home to those same native Dragons. These Dragons required this "human duty" as I tend to call it of their own offspring and thus required the same of us in exchange for giving over a fair sized portion of their own territory for our use during our stay on this planet.  Once myself and the others of my generation have returned to the Clans we will leave this world and resume our wanderings."

Chaos almost reigns.  Great battles are being fought and planned.  The war of the evil and eviller overlords has begun.  The Great Tickle War of 2002 is in full swing.  The patriotic (colors of your choice!) Tickle Brigade has been loosed upon the realm!  All that needs to happen now is some little thing to tip the scales - to render the peoples of the Realm less self-controlled, if only for a second. Meanwhile, in a peaceful glade rather distant from the site of Scott and Seren's tickle battle, creatures are peacefully dwelling, nibbling on the chocolate berries and munching greenberry pies.  Poke-critters playfully romp with Alfandria beasties, and all is calm.

When suddenly the frontier of a great wave of power slams through the glade at impossible speed!  At first nothing seems out of sorts, although a mist is left behind to slowly settle.  Then the inhabitants get their first whiff, and go insane!  The poke-critters never stood a chance, not naturally belonging here they aren't affected, and cannot think to protect themselves from the mad bouncing of the Alfandrian beasties as they are suddenly, overwhelmingly, affected by the distilled extract of Dwaggi-Nip!  For that frontier was the edge of the Dwaggi-Nip Expansion Sphere (DNES) released by Scott in a paryoxism of laughter during a prior tickle battle with Seren.  It affects all beings of or for Alfandria as catnip affects cats, and is all penetrating.  The essence of Chaos is in it - even Chaos Shields fail to halt it.

This sphere is expanding at an ever-increasing rate, and only Scott knows the secret words to stop it but being under the influence himself, he's forgotten them already.  It is quickly approaching the major players in the war of the evil and eviller overlords.  When it affects them Chaos shall rule the land forever! Or at least a half a second - whichever comes first.
