(Naomi's Busy Mart -
Buffalo, New York) Police responded to the store's alarm. The store was
closed and so, after searching the place and failing to find anyone there,
promptly decided to help themselves to some munchies. Later, after the police
left, two burglars broke in and stole a variety of things.
The police responded again, with reinforcements, and again, after failing to find anyone, helped themselves to more munchies. All of the above was captured very nicely on the store's security camera. ![]() |
Faire Pointes Hex reports from the Renassaince Faire that it brought home a point to him. "Many western children had notions of a dragon as bad or at least a monster. Not all but many. Asian children saw me as something far different. Proud, wise and to be honored. There parents were the same in dealings with me. Now I am not saying all children act in these ways. Yet enough did to cause some moments of cultural disappointment for western ways of viewing a dragon." Scott replied, "Both used to respect the dragon as a divine being, but numerous revisions in the Western Culture's past brought about the negative view we have to deal with now. In the Asian cultures that revisionist attitude toward mythology never took hold, and the dragons are still considered part of the mythology heirarchy - divine beings of power and legend." Queslonzia commented,
"My parents weren't culturally Eastern, but I have to admit that their views
on dragons were more Eastern leaning than Western. I'm not sure why, but
I think it stems from my great-grandfather, who was Cherokee. I was always
told that dragons were related to Coyote, Hawk and Owl. Which translates,
roughly, to a wise, crafty critter, whom it is sometimes not the wisest to
be great friends with, but from whom great wisdom can be gained. It all depends
on people. If people are raised to view dragons as bad or monsters, it's
up to people like us to disabuse them of that notion."Hex continues, "You are correct. It does stem from our upbringing. I always played the indian versus the cowboy. Even as a child I knew I was different. Yes, we must show the ignorant the greatness of the dragon and what better way than to teach the children." (Paid for by J'Karrah EbonDragon) People expressed interest in my "Winter Solstice" picture as a Christmas card. You can check it out, and a couple of other items, here: http://www.cafeshops.com/cp/store.aspx?s=ebondragon.0 Jake was looking for a black on white dragon to print out in one color, preferably one that has it's legs all sprawled out in different directions, and a Chinese one as well. A good dragon headshot like the Mortal Kombat one would be good too if anyone can help with that. Nargus SteamWarrior replied, "Here's a link: http://www.karate1.com/dragons/maindrag.htm The website contain over 150 sketchs of chinese & japanese dragons. All in black and white." |

Tahm'M'Lah writes, "They
should get rid of all the safety warning labels. I mean, really, if you need
to be told: "Do not attempt to stop chainsaw blade with hands." do you really
deserve the warning? It wouldnt so much be a capitol punishment for stupidity,
just a convenient solution to an annoying problem.
![]() MistWing comments, "Except that the warning labels aren't for the idiots. It's for the companies who have to worry about lawsuits from said idiots." Wyrm adds, "Rest assured, if they are stupid enough to try something like that, then they are stupid enough not to read the warning anyway." |
